Pictures are finally up, but I have tons more. I need to learn how to organize links to new pages of pictures so I can have topic related pages. If everything was on one page anyone dialing in will never get to see the bottom of the page.
Now to begin
Sunday
Plane ride was comfortable in business class. I don't think I could have possibly eaten more food then what they served. We had samon slices for appetizer with proscuetto; Filet Mignon, twice baked potato, and vegies for dinner, and eli's turtle cheesecake for desert. Then they served us breakfast 4 hrs later. I did a bit of reading, computer games and sleeping for the ride.
Monday
The weather in Munich was great: 80, sunny and low humidity. My dad and I spent the early afternoon at his office, and I said good morning to a few of you. Around 5pm we:Kevin(L.A. employee), Martin(Munich), my dad and I headed towntown for the festival. The company had 4 tables in the Schottenhamel tent in the balcony. The place was wild: music, singing, drinking, eating, and the occasional couple. I could never put into writing to make you fully understand. Even telling you in person when I get back would be hard to describe the atmosphere. Everyone has a blast and people are extremely friendly. The person next to you is like your best friend even when you've just meet. And the beer. I don't understand how American's can call what we drink beer. I have to say though I'm glad my dad's company was picking up the tab because 1 beer cost about E 8 (note: when i use the "E" before a number the "E" is the Euro symbol), and my dinner was E 14. On that note, here's a little saying from the germans:
(1 beer = 1 liter, 3.8 liters = 1gallon = 10.6 cans at 5% = 21 cans of standard american 2.5%, i.e mgd, bud, etc. = almost a case)
If you can drink 2 beers your respectable, 3 is top notch, 4 beers means your amazing and a true beer drinker, 5 beers is nearly godlike and extremely impressive.
So of course I drank 4 of them over 4-5hrs. I would have gone for the 5th, but my dad and Kevin had to work the next morning. I slept like a baby from 12-7:45am, and then I got up and ready for Tues. The best part is I didn't have a hangover. God I love German beer.
Tuesday (65, cloudy, rainy)
Well yesterday was a day on my feet. After a lovely complementary breakfast in the hotel of sausage, bacon, eggs, fruit, and danishes I headed for downtown Munich. I started at Marian Platz, the heart of the city with the Glockenspiel and everything else to see. I'll soon post pictures for everything downtown, and if we're all lucky I can post some short videos of the the figurines in motion. The first few hours I spent walking to the churches and taking pictures of the interiors. The decorations are amazingly detailed. (My english is already getting worse and I've been here 3 days) At one point I managed to get lost, and started walking towards a bell tower that I thought was near the square, but in reality was the opposite direction. At that point I decided to take out 1 of 2 maps to figure out how to get back. It really didn't matter much though, I had so much time to kill before meeting my dad at 5pm by the tents.
For lunch I found a bratwurst for E 1.60 at one of the butcher shops in the Viktualinmarkt, and it was the best damn brat i've ever eaten. The Viktualinmarkt has all of the fresh fruit, meat, and vegetable stalls. Around 2 I headed to the Deutsches Museum, the world's largest museum dedicated to the natural sciences. I spent 2 hrs there, and I don't think I saw a tenth of the place. I eventually left around 4:15 and headed for Oktoberfest which was a 45min walk. I was supposed to meet my dad around 5, but their meetings went much longer. The didn't arrive till 7, leaving me to sit around in the cold for 2 hrs.
We were in the Kaefer weis'n Schaenke. The beer was Paulane, which was even better then Spaten, and the food was amazing. They served platers of brazed duck, pork, potato dumblings with a mushroom cream sauce, and rotkoll(red cabbage, better then you think). I was so tired though from walking around from 9:30-5 that I only drank 3/4 a beer and left around 8:30. By 10:45 I was out cold till my mom called at 7am.
Today (65, partly cloudy)
We've spent the whole day at the office. I've been working on my blog and figuring out how to post pictures. Now I plan on figuring out to make seperate picture pages. This evening is up in the air. I most likely wont have a net connection till friday once i leave the office today.
General comments
The food is great here, and everyone is extremely friendly. Most people at the office speak english as well as I speak german or better.
I was glad to see some people pestering me for pictures in the comment section. I means some people are actually looking at this, and that my work has a purpose. thank you!
And once again I would like to say that i'm loving this blogger thing. Its been good reading other people's blogs to see what they're up to. My hat's off to you Knox. One of your better suggestions, good enough to almost erase all the movie ones.
