Thursday (70, sunny)
It's funny. I keep saying that I wont be able to get on for a couple of days, but I keep managing to get on and update. I've recieved some affirmative responses that my picture site is working for people. If I have time I'll post the video after writing this blog.
Quick word on food: Last night we had the most amazing salmon slices on potato pankakes.
Today my dad and I drove from Munich to Vienna, Austria. The drive took about 6 hrs because we took the scenic country route instead of the Autobahn for the first half of the trip. The country side was beautiful, but my pictures don't really capture all their glory. Green rolling hills of farmland with a shadowy outline of mountains in the distance. It was breath taking. The day was perfect for enjoying the view. I couldn't believe how many churches they have along the road we used. At one point we saw two churches about a quarter mile apart, but usually they're about 1 mile apart. I know they can be different religions, but they all had practically the same design, including the steeple, and the towns are really, really tiny, like 15 houses. Once we made it into Austria, we were in some large, forested hills with beautiful valleys in between.
As for the Autobahn, it is decieving. It isn't much more then our freeways, at least in Austria, but Germany is essentially the same. Every once and a while you get a section without a speed limit, and can cruise along. But flying along is dangerous if someone pulls out infront of you because they don't see the blur you make in their mirror.
We didn't get to see much of Vienna yet, but it is really confusing. all the streets are one way, and the ones in the inner ring of the city are so narrow I could spit across some of them. No hummers around here. On that note check out my pictures page for the drive. The hotel is a 5 star Marriat and looks nice, but I haven't had time to explore it.
6:40pm now. time for dinner with dad's coworkers.
