Last weekend was the first moutain bike race that I participated in. It was our home race, and should have turned out well, but after a collision about 1/3 of the way through I ended up 26th of 31. Stuff like that happens, and I was satisfied for a first race.
This weekend we raced up in Wisconsin with much better performance on my part, and overall great performance by the team. Saturday we raced a real technical, hilly, rocky course outside of Madison at Mt. Horeb. I managed 14th of 21, which was an improvement of our race. Plus I came out of it without any physical injuries or mechanical breakage unlike about a third of the racers in each category. It was a real brutal course that ate man, woman and machine.
Saturday we raced at Crystal Ridge Ski Hill outside of Milwaukee. There is a great course for racing there, with a bit of all types of terrain. I rode in 3rd place for most of the first lap, and finished 5th of 15. Overall I had a great time racing and being with the team the whole weekend, and meeting racers from other schools. Definitly a number of moments to remeber, and I can't wait for regionals in Bloomington, Indiana on the 9th and 10th.
