My Germany in WWI went better than my politics class on Wednesday. I could understand a little bit more, which probably had something to do with that fact that I already know some of the information. Anyways, it promises to be a good class once I start understanding more. It was interesting though that the average age in the class was somewhere around 45, I came in as the youngest, 19, I think with the oldest easily being 75 or older. Out of maybe 50 people i'd have to say at least 20 were over 55. No offense to my older readers, but that's not normal for a class.

Now for lunch. (The following is my recipe and instructions for a mikeatized german salad)
so I already have tons of things to make an amazing salad at home: romaine lettuce, bell peppers, mushrooms, onions, garlic, and tomatoes. Then I bought some brats today in an attempt to improvise on Sheena's recipe from last night, and had a great lunch.

Slice one large mushroom from bottom to top and then in half for small pieces after peeling off top skin with a knife.
Slice one tomato and then quarter the slices.
Chop garlic clove.
Slice half red pepper long way and then cut pieces in half.
Break lettuce leaves onto a good sized plate or big bowl
Hard boil an egg

Sauté mushroom, tomato, bratwurst, half red bell pepper, and clove of garlic in olive oil for 5 minutes or till brats start turning brown. Near the beginning of sautéeing sprinkle with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (I like mine spicy) Then add the hard boil egg after chopping into small pieces. Finish cooking till brats are golden brown. Place the sautéed mixture on top of the lettuce and enjoy.

At this point I'd like to thank both my grandmothers for the bit of cooking i've learned from them, and especially my mom for her amazing improvisational ability with food. Life is so much better and more interesting when you can cook more then waffles, grilled cheese and frozen pizzas.

This evening's endeavor is a cake from scratch, which will hopefully turn out even better then the oversized chocolate chip cookies on Monday night. Any favored recipes desert or real meals from my readers would be more then welcomed. I have to tell you though that some things are hard to come by around here like chocolate chips. Who would have ever thought that nobody would carry them, and I mean no one, not even Walmart. As a remedy I'm smashing chocolate bars into pieces with the back end of a big knife. Grandma Z you know which two I want, and the waffles from scratch would be nice too. Please email recipes to Bigz2084 yahoo.com Thanks.
