Mentioning Walmart in the other post for today reminded me that I've been wanting to rant about the store for a while. Now I know we have cultural differences between the two countries, but walmart(actually a super walmart) is missing a couple things that bother me. For starters, and by far the biggest, WHERE THE HELL IS THE CANDY AISLE? Seriously who would have thought there would be no candy aisle at a Walmart. It's like saying you can't by food at a grocery store. The only candy in the entire store was an endcap(next to mexican food) with some Twix bars and some little peez type things by the cashier. Secondly, where are the measuring cups. They have a two whole aisles with kitchen ware and nothing to measure dried goods quantities. I'm not expecting American units, I can deal with metric, but they don't even have them. Not even by all the baking supplies: flour, sugar, etc. And that's another thing. Brown sugar and vanilla seem to exists in only one grocery store in the entire town, and the vanilla comes in powdered form.
While i'm ranting a couple other things. Everything is closed on sundays and I mean everything except restaurants for limited hours. If the clothes cost any more I'd have to sell myself to pay for them. A pair of my pants ripped so I thought about replacing them. A pair of levis cost E 60 or about $75, I could by 4-5 pairs of pants at Kohls for that price. I'm glad i brought along two little sewing kits and know how to use them. So if your parents don't want to buy you new cloths because they're expense tell them they should try shopping in Europe.
On the flip side Penny Markt is dirt cheap for food like Aldi, which we also have in the area. I really need to find more places like that by us. A grilled brat, onion, and carrot cost me $0.60, and tastes good.
