Sheena, Chris and I started out at 11am for the Northern coast of the country. Our goal was to visit Giants Causeway, the most popular tourist attraction in Northern Ireland. The Irish Giant Finn MacCool wanted to fight the Scottish giant Benandonner, so he build a bridge from hexagonal pillars to get across the straight. Finn fled back home once realizing Benandonner was bigger. His wife dressed him as a baby, which scarred Benandonner into thinking Finn was bigger then him. So he returned home, tearing up the causeway behind him.
The three of us walked around on the rocks for about 20 minutes after arriving around 4:45 on a very cloudy, windy day. The rock formation is quite amazing because all to pillars of of different heights, and all are hexagonaly shaped. My pictures don't really due them much justice because it was too dark and windy to get good pictures.
Before reaching the causeway, we stopped in a sea side town called Port Rush and ate a fish and chips lunch, which is really fish and french fries. This marks the first accent problem of the trip. The guy asked me if I wanted "salt and vinegar", which I heard as "soda drink." Sheena "translated" for me, and the chips were the best i've ever had. After grabbing a bite to eat and visiting the causeway we headed back to Sheena’s for Christmas Eve dinner. Dinner (Tee) was ham, salad, potato salad, bread, and many other things. If you ever spend Christmas in Britain, they have these things called "crackers," which have a paper hat, toy, and bad jokes in them.
After dinner Chris, Sheena and I headed for party with Sheena’s youth group friends. The party was extremely fun; everyone was wonderfully friendly and talkative throughout the evening. We played a grab bag type came with the presents that included the ability to steal a present from someone that already opened one. It involves a great deal of strategy because there were 3 gifts that everyone wanted, and several no one cared about. I think we should try it at our pre Christmas party next year.
