Taste of the Midwest

Madison, Wisconsin rocks my world. Bill, Kathleen and I drove up there Friday afternoon to enjoy some German beer from the Student Union while sitting on their lake side patio and listening to a live musician. The weather was great all weekend for camping and walking around the city and festival. State St. has perhaps the best collection of exotic restaurants in one area that I have personally seen. Friday night dinner occured at a different Nepal restaurant than last year.

The festival was wonderful as always. Some great beer to choose from while listening to local music groups perform. Our favorite was Jim James and the Damn Shames. We also had the chance to volunteer for one of the breweries from Michigan and serve beer for an hour or so. I do have pictures from the weekend that will be posted at some point in time. I might try flickr with them since I haven't used it yet.

If you are ever in the south of Madison area, New Glarus is a cool authentic Swiss town. They have a good bakery downtown and a butcher just north of town. The architecture is all traditional Swiss styling, and they have fun festivals all summer long. There is also a State Park, New Glarus Woods, just south of the city. Nice place for camping.
