The Opera

The opera was excellent yesterday. Rose managed to get the last three tickets, which were seventh row center. We couldn’t have asked for anything better. I was amazed at how easy it was to understand the words that were being sung. If I understood more Italian it would have been very easy to understand the majority of the opera. They also had an LCD screen above the stage displaying the words to the songs only. This was also very helpful to understanding what they were saying. I sometimes didn’t recognize the spoken word, but I realized what the root word was by seeing it on the screen. I will try and get tickets at the door for the Magic Flute next month. In the mean time I know Tal and I have tickets to go see Mozart Aqua, a ballad on the 5th.

So I was talking to Jessica K. last night online, and brought the idea up again with people here of going to Munich so I could visit here. Things quickly swung around to Berlin since there are cheap flights to Berlin, and Munich is most easily reached by train although expensive. After a wave of initial interest I went ahead and spent the four some hours to find trains for Munich, dismiss it for flights to Berlin, find a hostel, buses, and everything else needed. This included finding EU tourist privileges of citizens of Albanian. I managed to put everything together for 156€ four days, three nights. Pretty damn good if you ask me. Needless to say, after all that time that I could have been studying, things have fallen apart. Pambos said he wouldn’t be able to tell me till Friday, Irene and Daniela need to think about it, Mark is a no, and I really don’t have the money for it. I doubt it will happen. There goes four hours.

I started using the beta blogger interface, which is much more convenient. I had been wondering why no one was commenting, but it seems I was supposed to review them and post them. This was not obvious before, but it is in the new interface. So keep the comments coming, and they will actually make it up in a reasonable amount of time now.
