We went outside of Rome to a town called Ostia Antica, an ancient sea port city. The city was founded around 7th century B.C., and is now in ruins after the river moved away from the city after a flood and the sea front moved a mile away. We were expecting a couple ruins like old Rome, but instead had an entire city to walk around. Houses, warehouses, baths, amphatheater, etc. What was supposed to be a 30 minute visit turned into a 3 hour visit. The entire site is opened to wonder around freely and explore. It was extremely impressive to walk through the old houses with marble walls and mosaics on the floor. Some of the roofs were still intakt in the warehouse area, and one of the buildings had an intact staircase to the second floor which let us look out over the enitre city. It was worth the one euro to take the train out there(one way, day card worth 4euors), and the two euros to get in. The entire time the weather was wonderfully sunny and around 60.

After our archeological exploration we headed to the beach at Lido for the sunset, which was beautiful but would have been better without the clouds on the horizon. From the beach we headed to one of Sheena's friend's house for an italian dinner. After about three plates of pasta each we decided to leave the little bit at the bottom. They said there was a bit more, so it could stay. A bit more meant an entire course of skewered cherry tomatoes and mozarella cheese balls, sliced prociutto, artichoke in olive oil, and bread roles. Of course desert came after that leaving the three of us set for the next three days.

Slept at the airport after getting correct on my Italian by the airport security guard.
