Some Light
The windows install has worked properly, and the drivers have been reinstalled. Now to put software back on the computer, but at our discretion. This should make her computer run faster and safer than before. We are also separating her documents to a different partition to avoid the issue of loosing documents if Windows needs to be restored. We might even create our own recovery sector on the hard drive for future use.
As for HP, I chatted with a tech again today. She was quickly befuddled by what I had to say regarding the problem and simply said I don't know what is wrong or why it happened, but we'll send you an new hard drive for free if it is still in warranty. It is nice to know that if you talk above them they are ready to do the easiest thing to get rid of you.
This whole ordeal makes me regret not bringing any of my software CDs with me, but I'll deal. If I need to I can use Linux, which I plan on learning in the Spring anyways. Plus I have no truely important files on my computer. Although I am considering creating a partition to back-up the few semi-important files.
